The Principles
of Business course provides extensive coverage of what business is
really about. This includes organizational structure, the central role of
Information Technology and the E-Business revolution in process management,
as well as the basics of market economics and world trade. An important
section also covers the difficult issue of ethics in corporate management.
This course will give you the foundation for all of your future business
related studies.

this course and provide the course's formal description and educational
goals.
General Description
This course provides an in-depth analysis of the functional processes and the role of a business enterprise in a capitalistic society. Since the business enterprise is the core economic structure in a capitalist system, the essential elements of understanding this structure are critical to success in a capitalist economy.
This course is a requirement for all ACC, MGT and OA&T Associate Degree Programs, and may also be used as an elective for the Liberal Arts A.A. program.
This course is delivered in a online format with face to face meetings only for orientation and initial familiarization with the course structure and applications.
Recommended Preparation
Working knowledge of personal computer systems and the ability to operate standard web browsers and email clients comfortably. Knowledge of data communications systems would be very helpful along with basic understanding of e-business operations.
Goals
The educational goals of Principles of Business are:
 | The student will appreciate the positive and constructive force that business plays by making available the goods and services, jobs and income that our society must have to exist and thrive.

 | The student will develop a general understanding of different economic philosophies and why and how these differences change the methods by which economic systems attempt to accomplish their common economic function.

 | The student will display an understanding of contemporary business concepts, principles, and practices that explain how businesses are formed, how they operate to accomplish their goals and functions, and why and how their success depends on effective management.

 | The student will begin building a framework of business terminology.

 | The student will identify potential career paths.

 | The student will begin to develop library research, analytical, and communication skills. |
