To complete this online course you will need to do the
following things. (The good point is that most of them can
be done on your schedule and online!)
1. Complete
Class Presentation Blocks on Schedule.
The course is based on narrated text and graphic presentations that
cover the topics of the course. These will appear as televised Lecture
Presentations and in the Classroom section of the Virtual Classroom
each week and may include video inserts. These presentations will
be the basis of the weekly class discussions (see below).
2. Read
The Text. The book is your responsibility.
The relationship of class activities to the text will be presented
in class. While many chapters of the book will be covered in lecture
presentations, you are responsible for all material covered in the
text.
3. Participate
In On-line Discussions. If you achieve
objectives 1 and 2 above you will be able to complete this objective.
This is an on-line discussion class not just an Internet based self-study
course. There will be discussion questions either presented in each
presentation or posted to the Virtual Classroom Bulletin.
You will be expected to respond by posting to the question topic
thread on a weekly basis. In addition there will be two weekly live
chats in The Office. These sessions are required. My analysis of
your completion of this objective will mean up to 100 points on
the course grade.
4. Successfully
Complete Three Exams. Successful completion
means obtaining at least 60 points on each 100 point exam. These
exams will be of the same format and will include an objective term
and concept section and a short essay question. All exams will be
given on-line in the Virtual Classroom. NO
EXAM MAY BE MISSED!
5. Complete
Three Assignments. These assignments
will be explained in lecture demonstrations. All assignments are
required. Each assignment will be worth up to 100 points on the
course grade.
6. Obtain
At Least 60% of the Possible Course Points for a Passing Grade.
The total possible points for the course are 700. Letter grades
are based on at least 60% of the points for any evaluation item
in the course for a D, 70% for a C, 80% for a B, and 90%
for an A. Obtaining less than 60% of the 800 total possible
points will result in an F grade for the course. The N grade will
not be given except in exceptional situations based on personal
or family medical or emergency conditions preventing completion
of the required minimum points.
